Shifting Perspectives is a reader exploring typography and graphic design in education, featuring essays that span global perspectives from South African identity design to Turkish typographic traditions. The collection examines how context, culture, and politics shape visual communication. I designed the book to echo the core concept of the title: a constant shifting of viewpoint and structure.
All of the design decisions in the book physically enact this idea. On the cover, the title itself is pushed across multiple lines, shifting the reader's perspective. Inside, essay subtitles move underneath each main title; author names are intentionally pushed to the bottom of each opening spread, creating a gap that reinforces visual hierarchy through absence. Page numbers tuck into the interior margins, breaking convention. Images are always centered, while text dynamically flows around them, reflecting the book’s central theme: how design, like perspective, is always in motion.
